JH Sayyar's Sonnets

101
My country cannot make more progress,
They imitate everything not invent in life,
Mosque, schools, and rules are slaves of tax,
Here murder, looting, corruption and strife.
Judges take bribe police support plunders,
Fighters forget duty and think of ruling State,
No experience in ruling and make blunders,
To befool the subjects make a long debate.
My mass copies foreign manners in dress,
Along with it they make all evil things,
Forget their forefathers’ manners to impress,
All slaves of passion the rulers or the kings.

The secrets of progress listen! I tell you,
Educate the nation but we neglect it true.
