JH Sayyar's Sonnets

290
Who are you, O Stranger? Why do you not?
Calls me “My sweet love,” and the light cool air
And the gleeful waves and happy and full hot,
Who calls me? I know no one is standing there,
But I think Jessica’s sweet voice was calling me,
But when I see turning my face there was none
Near me, peace full waves all free of worry,
I do not know O Lady why you from me shun,
Come to console and my upset mournful mind,
Crying like a babe all alone at the river bank,
Come sweet love, your merciful and more kind,
If you come I shall give you a sweet, sweet thank.

The waves and the flowers both are happy there,
But I am sad, though the weather fine and fair.
