JH Sayyar's Sonnets

People wont of tracing others’ faults when I gaze
Neglecting his being’s foibles, what a cunning art!
Degrading others in public just the ladies’ praise
A bad habit on earth to find others’ hidden wart
Finding faults other it is robbing others’ pleasure
As the canker to the rose beauty living in its being
Rain falls to kill the canker against it no measure
But to enhance men’s pleasure our nature deceiving
O Lady let us think out sitting in lone day and night
We mend our demerits what we trace in other wights
Bad habit like monkey tracing lice feeling delight
We are adopting the habits of vultures and kites

The fault I see in others the same lies in my soul
How can I sing for my poor being in solitude carol?
